Fluval EDGE Pre-Filter Sponge [Review]

Fluval EDGE Pre-Filter Sponge
I have used Fluval EDGE Pre-Filter Sponges for quite some time. They are black sponges used to cover filter intakes.

Do you have small fish, shrimp, or snails? There is a chance that they could be sucked into your filter. For a low price, the Fluval EDGE Pre-Filter Sponge will help cover your filter intake, preventing your tank's inhabitants from being sucked in.

Another great thing about it is its quality. I have about ten of them and it has been about a year since I started using them. I haven't had to replace yet one. If they require a cleaning, you can gently rinse them off with dechlorinated water. This is to preserve beneficial bacteria that have made their home in it. The highly porous shape of the filter cover allows for maximized bacteria growth. These bacteria help to remove toxic ammonia and nitrite from your aquarium.

These filter intake caps will fit the intake tubes of many filters, not just the Fluval EDGE brand.

Overall, I find the Fluval EDGE Pre-Filter Sponges a very great filter cover for its price and quality.
