PetSmart TopFin River Rock Aquarium Decoration [Review]

PetSmart TopFin River Rock Aquarium Decoration
I am currently using "TopFin River Rock Aquarium Decorations" from PetSmart in all of my aquariums. They are relatively large and smooth stones.

Many large fish, including goldfish, love to sift through the substrate in search of food. When they are of a certain size, they can injure themselves by choking on rocks. While is not as serious as when humans choke on something (the breathing and eating systems of fish are isolated), it can still be very harmful to fish. If the lodged pebble fails to come out, the fish can eventually starve. If the fish manages to swallow the stone, then it can lodge in their stomach, causing internal problems. In the very best case, the fish will manage to spit out or dislodge the stone. Even in this cause, the stone still irritates the fish's mouth, stressing it. By buying these large river stones, you prevent this problem.

These stones are very attractive and come in different colors. They look great on top of sand, mixed with gravel, and by themselves. However, I can't find the 10lb container online. This bulk buy is a much better deal than the small mesh bag. If you want to buy the container, stop by your local PetSmart.

Overall, I find the TopFin River Rock Aquarium Decorations to be very useful for large fish that sift through the substrate and also very aesthetically-pleasing.
